After narrowly meeting each other on several different occasions, across different states, Mary and Peter met as a setup by two of their co-workers. Within the first five minutes of their first date, they started putting the pieces together of how much they had in common. From Davenport, Iowa to Marco Island, Florida, and finally meeting after working just four buildings away from each other in Naples, they new the match was serendipidous.
In July of 2019, Peter and Mary arrived in the beautiful Tuscany, Italy. Unaware of Peter's secret plan, they went off to enjoy an evening in the town of Pienza, which Peter convinced Mary the importance of the visit was due to the town's esteemed pecorino romano cheese. What Mary didn't know was that the view from this hilltop town overlooked the Val d'Orcia, Tuscany's national park filled with rolling hills and miles-upon-miles of iconic scenery. As they strolled along the wall encompassing the town, Peter pulled Mary aside into one of the outlooks and got on one knee, with four short words Mary was instanly in tears, blubbering out a resounding, "Yes!" Shortly after, they went to tell Mary's parents the wonderful news, and Mary was fumbling on FaceTime trying to show her mom the view from which he proposed. As she did so, not looking where she was going, Mary took one step into a small pit, twisted her ankle, and fell flat to the ground. Between laughs and happy tears, Mary had solidified once again that she had truly fallen for Peter.
