Our Story

The beginning of our love story is a tale as old as time: matching on a dating app. In the Fall of 2017 Mary had just moved down to Massachusetts after her sister began dental school at Tufts University. Matt was a year out of college and living in Somerville with friends. One day we both swiped right on Coffee Meets Bagel and the rest was history. Our first date was in November 2017 at Saloon in Somerville. We immediately bonded over our shared love of travel and The Office. The next few years we went on many adventures and got to know each other better. We introduced each other to our friends and family, hung out with some goats, and saw the northern lights in Iceland. Fast forward to August 2020 and we moved in together in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. The first several months we spent a lot of time in the apartment together with Matt working from home and Mary taking remote classes. Luckily the early days living together went pretty smoothly even though the two of us have very different taste in art and décor. Matt proposed in September 2021. We had just got back from vacation to the Grand Tetons and Glacier National Parks and decided to have a picnic at Singing Beach in Manchester-by-the-Sea. After eating dinner and resolving Mary's hanger, we strolled down to the shoreline. The proposal was delayed slightly when a seagull tried to fly away with an entire bag of tortilla chips and we had to shoo it away. Even though Matt wasn't as sly as he thought he was being, Mary still was surprised. She said yes.
