Mary Beth and Tyler’s story began thanks to a little help from friends. One of Mary Beth’s best friends, Peyton, and her now-husband Tanner set them up. Tanner had lived with Tyler at Park Place at UNC, and they both thought Mary Beth and Tyler would get along great. Their first plan was simple: meet up in downtown Raleigh and have fun. They spent the night talking, dancing, and joking around, and the conversation came easily. By the end of the night, Mary Beth knew she definitely wanted a second date. Their next date was another double date with Peyton and Tanner. They went to church at The Summit Church in Chapel Hill and then grabbed lunch at Sup Dogs. Afterward, they played a few games of spikeball before Peyton and Mary Beth dropped Tyler and Tanner back off at Park Place. When they got back to the house, Tyler wanted to ask Mary Beth for her number, but the moment passed while everyone was saying their goodbyes. As Mary Beth and Peyton were about to leave, Mary Beth had a feeling that if she didn’t get his number right then, she might never see him again—and that just wasn’t happening. She jumped out of the car and ran into the house to find him. At the exact same moment, Tyler was running back outside because he realized he didn’t want her to leave without getting her number. They met halfway, laughed at the perfect timing, exchanged numbers, and the rest is history.
