Travel Note
- A passport is required! - Visitors cannot rent a car in Bermuda (see Transportation below) - Bermuda is small (only 26 square miles) but it is long and narrow and can take about an hour to drive from one end to the other
Travel Note
In general, we recommend staying on the west end of the island (see above map) given you will be closer to most beaches and wedding events. Bermuda accommodation especially hotels is pricey (sorry!!). But you can find affordable options if you plan ahead. Families and groups of friends will find renting houses is much more affordable than hotels. Plan asap because houses will book up. Ask Marybeth if you have questions about where to book! Room rates at Cambridge Beaches where we are hosting the wedding are quite high so we’ve compiled a list of alternative additional recommendations below.
House Or Rental
House rentals via AirBnB or VRBO can be the most economical option, especially for larger groups. If you will not be renting scooters, we advise asking home owners what the proximity is to public transportation options before booking. Marybeth is happy to help if you have questions about where to book!
Hotel
There are many beautiful hotels in Bermuda. Do your research! Wedding hotel is Cambridge Beaches - https://www.cambridgebeaches.com/ Rates are $500+. Children <13 not permitted. Please note that this location is definitely considered “remote” for Bermuda and you will have longer drives to other destinations which you may consider if you are relying on taxis for transportation. The Reefs - https://www.thereefs.com/ - located on small, beautiful beach in Southhampton. Just gorgeous! CoCo Reef - http://www.cocoreefbermuda.com/ - the hotel has a spectacular location on Elbow Beach. The hotel is not as luxe as other choices but very nice and you can’t beat the price for waking up to the sound of the ocean. Newstead - http://www.newsteadbelmonthills.com/ - located on Hamilton Harbour - a very convenient location with lovely harbour views. A good central location if not renting scooters. You can easily catch hotel shuttle to Hamilton or ferries to other parts of the island from here.
Hotel
Several guest houses have nice locations and better rates. Greenbank - https://www.greenbankbermuda.com/ - convenient location on Hamilton Harbour; good proximity to ferry and beaches. Rooms are quaint and location is great. Granaway B&B - http://www.granaway.com- convenient location near Hamilton Harbour ferries and buses. SaltKettle B&B - https://saltkettlehousebermuda.com/ - on the water on Hamilton Harbor; 2 minute walk to ferry and very close to Hamilton by taxi.
Travel Note
Tourists are not permitted to rent cars in Bermuda. Upon arrival, there are plenty of taxis waiting at the airport. If you are staying at a hotel, most will provide airport transfers so inquire when you book. Options are taxis, public buses, 2 seater EVs, scooters or ferry. If you are traveling with young children, buses and taxis are the only option. Bermuda taxis will pick you up anywhere, including beaches. They also make wonderful tour guides. See FAQs for contact info. For the adventurous, scooters are a fun way to explore. They are easy to arrange once you arrive on the island. We drive on the LEFT side of the road in Bermuda. BE CAREFUL if you rent and DO NOT ride scooters after drinking! A safer but pricier option is the 2 seater Twizy. These often book up so if you are interested, reserve early. FYI - you can bring scooters on ferry which is a good option to travel from Dockyard to St Georges.
