Mary Ann's Story: We both met where we used to work, at Woolco Dept. Store. Manny asked me out and we didn't know each other except seeing each other in passing. We went to a drive-in movie. We didn't go out again for a while, in fact we double-dated. He with my friend and I with his friend. After both of those relationships went by the wayside, we would talk to each other during our evening breaks and became good friends. It was through that friendship that we became closer and the rest is history. Manuel's Story: I met her working at Woolco, she worked at the Shoe Department and I worked at the Floor Covering Department. We dated for a while. I finally asked her to marry me in a Poem: My parents talked to her parents about it and after she said yes, we went to their house to tell them. The Poem, "Mary Ann, whenever we're apart, it really breaks my heart. I can’t express the thrill of what I really feel. I only have one life, so my love, will you be my wife!"
