Cades Cove is a famous section of Great Smoky Mountain National Park, just a short drive from Dancing Bear Lodge. It has an 11-mile one-way loop road that's great for a short day trip, including some hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities. Definitely find some time for Cades Cove on your trip!
The Foothills Parkway, managed by the National Park Service, traverses the ridges of the Smokies above Townsend and features breathtaking views at multiple overlooks. The Townsend Loop: At the Townsend Redlight, turn onto Highway 321 (Wears Valley Road) and travel approximately 6.5 Miles to the Foothills Parkway exit in Wears Valley (large sign). Travel from Wears Valley to Walland and exit on Highway 321 in Walland to complete the loop to Townsend.
