Explore Glacier National Park

West Glacier, MT

Explore Glacier while you're in the area - be sure to secure a vehicle registration and timed entry ahead of your travel date. Entrance to the park is available between 7am and 3 pm daily. Check the website (linked below) for more information! From Downtown Whitefish: Follow US-93 S and MT-40 W to US-2 W. Continue on US-2 W, driving to Going-to-the-Sun Rd in West Glacier. This route will bring you straight to the park's west entrance.

Hike Big Mountain

Hiking is a great way to see all the native plants and wildlife that thrive on Big Mountain, plus breathtaking views of Glacier National Park, the Northern Rockies, and the Flathead Valley! Try the 3.8 mile (one-way) hike - Danny On Memorial Trail - that takes you from the village area all the way to the summit of Big Mountain. Walk through evergreen woods and grassy meadows studded with wildflowers and huckleberries, as well as open vistas in nearly all directions. As you approach the summit, the peaks of Glacier National Park will grace your view to the east, rising up like a city skyline. Once you've reached the top, reward yourself with a cold beverage and a bite to eat at the Summit House! You can expect this hike to take you about 3-4 hours - so pack plenty of water and snacks (and bear spray!).
