Mary and Andrew met in 2014 as freshmen in college at Georgetown University (Hoya Saxa!). While initially acquaintances, they got to know each other over the years as Mary spent time with Andrew's roommates who were in her pre-med classes. In their senior spring semester in 2018, Mary and Andrew began to spend more time together as friends and ultimately had their first date in February ice skating at the Georgetown waterfront followed by dinner at El Centro (RIP). Despite having dated for only 3 months, they decided to take the plunge into a long distance relationship as Andrew moved to NYC to pursue an engineering degree at Columbia University while Mary stayed in DC to work for AmeriCorps. As time passed, Mary moved back home to Massachusetts for medical school and Andrew spent time between NYC and Pittsburgh after graduating engineering school at the peak of COVID. After 3.5 years, they finally found themselves living in the same state again when Andrew moved to Boston for an R&D Engineer position in November 2021 and Mary was in Springfield completing her clinical rotations. (Despite her best efforts, Mary was unsuccessful in converting Andrew into becoming a Boston sports fan). This made weekend trips to visit each other much easier and they spent lots of time together eating cannolis in the North End and checking out breweries back in western MA. In February 2023, Andrew proposed to Mary in Boston after they walked around the Boston Common ice skating rink in a nod to their very first date 5 years earlier. They were overjoyed when Mary matched to OBGYN residency at Brown in Providence, RI, which also allowed Andrew to keep his job in the Boston area as he continued to grow his engineering career at Miele. They finally moved in together to Providence in June 2023 and are so happy to be getting married in the city they love and now call home. They are so grateful and excited to celebrate with family and friends from both near and far this September!
