After careful consideration, Patrick and I have made the difficult decision to postpone our larger reception until next year. Safety is our number one priority and right now, we just can’t guarantee that with the original wedding plan. Many of our guests were unable to attend due to travel restrictions. The responsible decision is often the most difficult. We will be having a small family ceremony this year and look forward to celebrating with everyone next year. Patrick began work in the Service & Repayment department of a large, local education financial firm in September 2014. A month later, Mary joined the same department. Their professional teams shared space on the same floor. Mary befriended a few members of Patrick's team and the group would often congregate after-hours at local hot spots close to the office. In mid-2015, both Patrick and Mary were promoted to separate Leadership Team within the organization, along with a couple of Mary's close colleagues. Again, the professional teams shared the same workspace. As Mary and Patrick participated in team collaborative efforts, Mary took notice of Patrick's calm, kind, and caring nature, and mentioned her observations and admiration to a mutual colleague. As Mary's birthday approached, her colleague group discussed after-hours celebration plans. Mary and Patrick's mutual colleague decided to take this opportunity to play "match-maker" and told Mary "Hey - you should invite Patrick". Mary heeded his advice and invited Patrick along; however, Mary didn't know that the same colleague had collaborated with the rest of their group to attend on a different weekend (this was also kept a surprise from Patrick to ensure the two were alone). His plan worked perfectly. Mary showed up to the venue and Patrick was the only person in attendance. The two talked for hours, kindling a new-found friendship that blossomed into more as the weeks progressed and Mary received an unexpected transfer to Patrick's professional team. The couple began "officially" dating soon after. The rest, they say, is history.
