Mark and Mary first met a popular local bar, Rock Lobster, when they were introduced to each other by a mutual friend. It was a very brief interaction and the two parted ways without exchanging phone numbers. Luckily, the universe intervened and a week later, they matched on Hinge. After talking for a few days, Mark told Mary he was a big "wine connoisseur" and asked if she wanted to "rendezvous at a little winery". Amused and intrigued by a 23 year old proclaimed wine expert, Mary agreed. They planned to meet at Peace Water Winery in downtown Indy that Friday night. However, plans for their first date quickly changed. After walking into the winery and sharing an awkward side hug, they quickly realized the place was completely empty. They laughed, told the staff they were going somewhere else, and decided to pivot to a sushi restaurant across the street instead. Mary soon realized she was not on a date with a "wine connoisseur", but someone far better. (Mark later admitted to not knowing anything about wine, but thought a winery "sounded romantic".) They spent 3 hours in that sushi restaurant, talking and laughing about all the similarities they had. They realized they both went to Ball State and graduated the same year, were lifelong Notre Dame fans, and came from big Catholic families. They even have two siblings that share names! When they both left that evening, they knew that they had met the one. Ever since that first date, Mark and Mary have been inseparable. They've spent the last 3 years building a life together in Indianapolis with their friends and family. Mary is in her 6th year of teaching in Fishers and Mark has celebrated 3 years at Indiana Farm Bureau. They are so excited to start this next chapter of their lives together and see where it takes them!
