Without a little bit of procrastination and a lot of boxed wine, we'd never be here. I was an overwhelmed grad student at the University of Florida with a sizable project due on a Friday that I had predictably waited too long to start. As I worked through Thursday night to finish, plans to leave Gainesville early the following morning with friends for a music festival outside of Atlanta were steadily pushed back. By the time we got on the road, hours had slipped by and my traveling companions were (rightly) exasperated to have waited on me so long. At the same time in Athens, Mary was waiting on her roommate, Julia, to finish a test so they could leave for the same festival. Behind schedule, the car full of Gators stopped for groceries and supplies, and that's how our car ended up stuck behind Mary's in a line to enter the festival both had hoped to avoid by leaving earlier. By the time the two cars were parked and set up, we were deep into a boxed wine and arguing about what should go where which was right around the time Mary and her friends realized who they had gotten stuck next to. First impressions didn't last, and improbably, the two groups spent the weekend together. By the time it was over, this goofy little hippie had made me laugh a lot. I barely knew her, but I knew I wanted to see her again. Weeks later, she came on a whim to visit me, and I confessed I might be falling for her. We never looked back. -Marc
