While there aren't tons of spots in Lowell, Cedar Lake, a neighboring town just slightly Northwest of Lowell, has a fine assortment of properties along the lake, via AirBnB that highlight it's rich history as a getaway town for mobsters and dignitaries. some of these Lake houses are pretty dope. I'd advice you give it a look/see.
