St. Augustine is the oldest city in the United States! But age is just a number because there are plenty of things to do and see in St. Augustine. Downtown St. Augustine is about five minutes away from our wedding venue. Restaurants: Casa Reina Taqueria & Tequila; Harry's Seafood Bar & Grille; River & Fort; Prohibition Kitchen Things to See: Castillo de San Marcos National Monument (oldest masonry fort in continental U.S.); Flagler College (small college with beautiful grounds to walk around) Other: St. George Street (a pedestrian-only street that is a great place to walk down for shops, restaurants, and attractions); St. Augustine Distillery (local distillery that offers tours and tastings)
An open-air shopping mall that is a great place to walk around.
Ponte Vedra is a beautiful beach town about 40 minutes up A1A from our reception venue and a great place to drive through. Ponte Vedra is home to Sawgrass Village, a cute walkable area with food and shopping. Also, if you are a golf fan, this is where the Player's Tournament takes place.
Before I (Johnny) hit the road and drive back to Tallahassee for school, Mary and I like to get coffee at Brass Tacks. So we are usually slightly bummed here, but the coffee is good!
Beautiful sunsets, peaceful place to walk around, and this is where we got engaged!
This is the beach that is connected to our venue.
Our venue, Embassy Suites, is connected to a beach. But if you are looking for a different place, Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park is our favorite one to go to. A bit of a drive, but always a good experience.
Another beach recommendation. Usually busier than Hanna Park, especially during the day, but a nice spot in Ponte Vedra.
Yup, this is the Fountain of Youth. Disclaimer: we have never visited this so we cannot vouch for the results.
The first shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the U.S.
