Wedding Party

Meet our family and friends who will be standing beside us on the big day!

Elizabeth Marlow

Maid of Honor

Liz is Mary’s older and only sister. They are both August birthdays and have always agreed peaches and cream pie is the best birthday (and any time) dessert. Liz taught Mary to love classic movies, musical theater, and even Jane Austen, all of which remain some of their favorite things to share to this day! Mary had the great privilege of being Liz’s Maid of Honor a decade ago, and is so excited to have her sister’s wisdom and humor guide her through this special time which they’ve planned and dreamt about for ages. If you’re at the cheese table with Liz, good conversation topics include her four little boys, what she is reading for her two book clubs, her latest home improvement project, or anything related to Ina Garten.

Emily Steiner

Bridesmaid

Emily and Mary met in first grade and they’ve been bosom buddies ever since! In over twenty years of friendship, they have bonded over a lot, but literature most of all. They were on a Battle of the Books team in elementary school, used to spend hours at Borders, exchanged books as presents for years, and regularly refer to each other as "Anne" and "Diana." And yes, they do have shared custody of a dvd of Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet. When their heads aren't in books, they love to camp and travel together! Emily is a lawyer, but instead of soliciting free law advice during cocktail hour, ask about their cross country road trip, camping successes and failures, Baltimore, Charlotte versus Emily Bronte, chic candle companies, or North Carolina breweries.

Sarah Midgley

Bridesmaid

Sarah is Mary’s only older cousin, and as such, one of her oldest friends. They bring out each other's inner fan girl. From Johnny Depp to Matthew McFadyen to the mutual love of their lives, Josh Groban, they are usually found (embarrassingly) sighing and swooning in both private and public spaces. They also spent most their time together as children planning weddings, so they have been waiting for this moment for years! Sarah lives in Texas where she enjoys CrossFit with her husband, Patrick. If CrossFit intimidates you, try chatting with her about being a global championship Irish dancer, a Shakespeare scholar and actor, or her ability to accurately assign Muppet characters to most of her acquaintances.

Allison McGinley

Bridesmaid

Mary met Allison at a New Year’s Eve ball she hosted with her brother David. They chatted at the food table about Jane Austen and Mary was impressed her brother kept such intelligent friends. A few years later, Allison became her sister-in-law! In the last six years, they’ve bonded over books, cocktails, and David’s silly antics. Allison and Mary are usually the ones heading out for an adventure when everyone else wants to stay home. One of Mary's favorite traditions since moving to Philly is Allison's annual tax season visit. Last year, that's when she and Liz were the first ones to meet Jack! If you’re chatting with Allison over crab balls, ask her about The Count of Monte Cristo, her favorite Catholic theologians, the Maryland Ice Cream Trail, or Ocean City travel tips.

Liza Tomczuk

Bridesmaid

Liza is Jack's younger sister, and met Mary on May 17th, 2019 to celebrate Jack's birthday. Since everyone else in the Tomczuk clan went to Temple, Liza and Mary have bonded over their small liberal arts experiences at Dickinson and Muhlenberg. Mary loves talking with Liza about her research in early intervention practices for families of children with autism which she is very passionate about! If you want to chat with Liza at the wedding, good topics include sports (she is a great athlete and played college soccer); childhood stories about Jack; the merits of playing darts at a bar; her hatred of chocolate; or her study abroad time in Australia.

Luke Tomczuk

Best Man

Jack met Luke on the day the latter was born, May 21, 1996. They are brothers, who, for most of their lives, shared the back bedroom of the house where they grew up. They later roomed together at Temple University, where both succeeded in making a name for themselves. Luke is the nicest brother Jack could ever imagine. They developed an incredibly strong bond through spending time together watching sports, playing video games and doing all sorts of things. Luke still lives in the Great Northeast, and he's back at his alma mater, Temple, working with people with autism. Luke's become quite a talker, but, to get him going, you only have to mention SEPTA or football.

Christian Matozzo

Groomsman

Christian and Jack met while studying journalism at Temple University. The two became friends attending Temple's Newman Center and later lived next to each other in the same apartment building. Crucially, Christian invited Jack to Quizzo on Jan. 21, 2019. Though Jack didn't want to go -- after all, he had just been covering a weeknight community meeting -- he decided to, after Christian's pleading, and that's how he met Mary. In most groups, Jack and Christian are the two Philly guys, equipped with local expertise and thick accents. They love to discuss local politics and shoot pool in Southwest Philly. It's not hard to get into a conversation with Christian, but, if you want to, it's best to start with politics (preferably, Philly politics), law school, philosophy or theology.

Stephen McGinley

Groomsman

Stephen is one of Mary's four older brothers, and, if you ask Mary, the only one who can hang with her as a vocalist. Jack first met him on June 9, 2019, during his inaugural trip to Mary's parents' house in Hagerstown, Maryland. Jack was not thrown off by his questioning on that first trip and quickly recognized his intellect and quick wit. Stephen is a professor of philosophy at Mount St. Mary's University and an organic farmer. He lives with his wife, Casey-Mae and their four children, Raphael, Miriam, Augustine and Isidore. Ask him about his thoughts on our country's food industry and the latest developments in Catholic theology.

David McGinley

Groomsman

David is Mary's older brother and the sibling closest to her in age. He lives in the house Mary grew up in, and that's where he met Jack on June 8, 2019, on the groom's first -- though far from last -- trip to Hagerstown, Maryland. David lives with his wife Allison and works as an accountant at his father's firm, Draper & McGinley. He is the proud owner of a customized gaming table and a fast food lover. Talk to him about the moral fabric of our country, board games and the future of St. Maria Goretti High School (his and Mary's alma mater). Jack looks forward to getting to know him and Stephen more during this process and forever after.
