Mary and Cameron went to different schools for elementary and middle school. They officially met in Spanish class freshman year. Mary chose the seat behind Cameron. She was and still is the outgoing girl that made friends with anyone instantly and Cameron, the more of the listening type was instantly captured by Mary’s bubbly personality as she talked his ear off. They still joke that Mary passed Spanish class with a strong C because she cheated off Cameron. Although, this is not where their love started, this is where their strong friendship started. And if anyone knows the both of them their friendship is something they both value so much in their relationship. They were not so much best friends or even friends that hung out outside of school. More of friends that enjoyed working together in class or messing around in the hall. However, this is the year Mary found out her family was moving to Florida after the school year. The two still stayed in contact with each other after she moved away with the classic Snapchat. Nothing going beyond that. Until the summer after their Junior year in July 2015. After a whole year living in Florida for Mary’s junior year she came back to Michigan for the whole month of July. The day Mary arrived in Michigan her friends put together a party for her. And if you can guess, Cameron was one of those people who showed up. Mary says she can still remembers Cameron showing up that day, that day was not the day the spark started, well not for Mary at least. For Cameron it was the start of more of a thought of wanting to be with her but never dreamed she would go for him. Little did he know he ended up marrying her. That summer the two of them hung out almost every day with their group of friends. Cameron started to show more of an interest for Mary first without Mary ever really noticing until her friends put it in perspective. When Mary realized this things started to get a bit more serious between the two of them. So they started talking more, getting to know each other better. Towards the end of that summer they shared their first kiss at a bonfire with friends. Ever since that summer they never stopped talking. After Mary left Michigan that summer the two of them had had the conversation about long distance. They did not want to pressure each other into being in a relationship like that if it became too difficult. So the first part of that long distance relationship they kept it casual. Both not knowing till later they were both all in for this relationship and did not want anyone else. It was not until Mary mailed Cameron a letter telling him that she loved him and how she really felt about him. This was the first time they told each other they loved one other. From then on they did everything to make this relationship work. With many flights, late phone calls, and shared ice cream cones kept their relationship together for 5 ½ years of long distance. November 2020 Mary had planned a trip to visit Cameron for the holiday. Usually Cameron would pick Mary up from the airport and they would embrace after a long couple months without seeing each other but this time Cameron’s mom Debbie, Grandma Sharri, and sister Kaylee took on this task. It was planned as a girls day while Cameron had a “busy day at work”. The group of girls traveled to a market for shopping, lunch at Grandma’s, and casually asked if Mary wanted to go to Frankenmuth. As we walked around Frankenmuth the ladies were acting super weird, not going into stores, walking behind Mary the whole time. That all changed when they were coming around the corner to walk over the bridge. *Cue the snow* as Mary walked up to the bridge to see the dressed up Cameron standing in the middle of a heart of roses on the bridge. Shock swept over her as Cameron got down on one knee to ask her to marry him. The whole moment felt like a Hallmark movie with the fresh snow flakes falling down. Barely getting out the word to say YES!
