What a year it has been. For every moment of confusion and grief we feel lucky to have been met with love and encouragement. We hope that you are faring 2020 with community support. A lot has happened in our lives since spring. Following Mary’s layoff in early April we were married in our apartment kitchen by our close friend, Alex Blank. Immediate family was present over Zoom in true 2020 fashion. We celebrated in-person with neighbors in our building and were blown away with a surprise wedding caravan of friends from Milwaukee and Chicago. Sending gratitude to everyone who made that day unforgettable. Following our nuptials, we moved in with Andrei’s mom and stepdad in Lombard, Illinois. We gardened and took their pup, Gaby, on lots of walks. Then we learned some big news… that we are expecting Baby Bechtol on March 1, 2021! This prompted a quick yet successful home search. We got settled in our Lincoln Square condo this October, just in time for another Chicago winter. Tired yet? We aren’t either. :) As we think about our rescheduled 2021 celebration date, it remains hard to imagine a scenario where everything can take place safely and as planned. With a heavy heart we have decided to cancel the wedding celebration next year. We look forward to the day when we are able to embrace our family and friends in-person once again.
