We met in Philadelphia on the corner of 22nd and Lombard Street while waiting for a ride to our soccer game. By some gracious act of the Universe, or a stroke of good luck (however you choose to interpret it), we both decided to sign up for the CASA rec soccer league without knowing anybody else and were placed on the same team. The love story sort of went like this: In the first game, Dani assisted 2 of Mary Ann's goals - immediate chemistry. After the game, Dani found out that Mary Ann loved British and Australian accents, so before our second game, she greeted Mary Ann with a hello(r) - a budding romance. After the third game, Mary Ann presented Dani with a leaf while walking to the car - It was love. All jokes aside, we are really grateful for the CASA soccer league and that we lived close enough to be in the same carpool (shoutout Izzy). We realized that we had quite a bit in common (from our mutual obsession of coffeeshops to our connection to South America to our pursuit of a career in medicine). Our relationship has been filled with coffee shops, walks around all of the cities, talks about the Universe, dancing in kitchens and on the roof of 1812 Pine, attempting a hop-on-hop-off bus until the sunny day turned to pouring down rain, and singing/playing guitar at the many music nights at 2059 Pemberton. Since Dani moved to Cleveland to start medical school, we have maybe set the record for most minutes spent on FaceTime and most trips across the PA Turnpike in a year. We are so grateful that Mary Ann matched in Ohio for residency so that we can both be in the same city again. If we had to sum up our relationship with a phrase or two we would say: It is the feeling of being held and free at the same time. It is grounded in presence. We are so excited to get married and are so grateful for your love and support!
