In short, we met...at the Met! We locked eyes over the info desk and the rest is (art) history.

We love visiting the art installations of James Turrell, especially the skyspaces. In the summer of 2023 we went to San Francisco for Pride and then drove down the Pacific Coast Highway to LA. Mary's brother (best man Daniel) came on this trip for secret emotional support because unbeknownst to Jenna, Mary was planning to propose! Jenna and Mary had already bought Jenna's engagement ring on a whim after seeing the perfect one in a store near our home. For almost a year Mary worked with our dear friend Omar to construct an engagement ring that would complement Jenna's. On July 1st at James Turrell skyspace at Ponoma College Mary proposed to Jenna with both rings at the start of the installation's light program, keyed to coincide with the LA sunset. Surrounded by friends who knew about the proposal (and one very surprised elevator friend who did not) and helped to plan this magical moment, Jenna said yes and proposed right back.
