Sean planned an elaborate fake work event on a Saturday in June 2024 as an excuse for Ashleigh to get dressed up and photo ready. Letting her friends in on the secret, they went as far as making a fake Eventbrite ticket knowing she would be skeptical of this storyline. The morning of, Sean was ready for a smooth day! He had his outfit picked, a fresh haircut, and the ring ready to go. What he hadn’t anticipated was Ashleigh’s reluctance to attend the fake event following a long evening out on the town the night prior. Sean began to panic text Ashleigh’s friends and her mom asking for advice. He settled on the old hair of the dog trick and handed Ashleigh a cold Michelob Ultra as she started to get ready. Once finally out the door, the second unexpected element hit. It was pouring rain. His lakefront proposal would now be accompanied by gusty winds and waves crashing into the pavement he had meticulously planned to walk Ashleigh down. As he lead her out of the car, she proceeded with her protest and difficult ways, asking why they must walk in the pouring rain. Didn’t he realize her heels were sinking into the grass and her makeup was running? Following some colorful words by Ashleigh, Sean convinced her to just trust him. It finally clicked to her that he was proposing and she had spent the day being her most stubborn self. Luckily, after 6 years together this was nothing new to Sean! He got down on one knee in the freezing June rain and asked Ashleigh to marry him. Of course she happily said yes! Now time for the real deal (no Eventbrite ticket needed).
