Driving in Greece: International Driver’s License

If you plan to rent a car and drive in Greece, you’ll need an International Driver’s Permit (IDP) along with your valid driver’s license. You can easily obtain an IDP through your local AAA before your trip. This takes less than 30 minutes and costs under $35. You’ll need both the permit and your license to rent a car and drive legally in Greece.

The currency in Greece is the Euro (€). It's a good idea to have some cash for smaller transactions, though credit and debit cards are widely accepted. You can obtain this by calling your bank and ordering cash or use an ATM upon arrival.

Tipping Culture

Tipping is not mandatory in Greece but is appreciated. In restaurants, a 5-10% tip is common, and it’s polite to round up taxi fares or leave small change.
