The wedding will be on Saturday but the town is beautiful and there is a lot to see and explore. We recommend arriving Thursday or Friday afternoon to allow time to settle in before the celebrations begin!
Both Guanajauto (BJX) and Queretaro (QRO) are about the same distance from San Miguel de Allende. Both are smaller airports and fairly easy to navigate. When we visited San Miguel, we flew into BJX. There are some direct flights to these airports from major cities on Frontier or Volaris airlines. Most other airlines connect through Mexico City.
We have linked in the travel section Bajio Go, a well-known transportation company who was recommended by our San Miguel-based wedding planner. On their website, you can reserve a shuttle or private car for transfers to and from the airports. The ride takes about an hour and a half. Guests arriving on the same flight who book the shuttle will be grouped together for efficiency.
Our wedding is going to be in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, which is a well-known wedding destination and has a large expat resident population as well. Despite recent events in other parts of Mexico, San Miguel remains a safe city and has a strong security presence to protect its residents and tourists. We have been in contact with our wedding planner and others who are local and all have reported that they are safe and have not been effected by the activity in Puerto Vallarta. If you have any concerns, feel free to reach out to us! We value each one of you and your safety is the utmost priority to both of us.
The dress code is formal, but we encourage color and fun! Be as fancy as you would like but comfortable for warm weather. Tea length to long dresses for women (or pantsuits) and suits or dress pants and blazers for men. The wedding will be outside in a garden setting with the reception on a paved courtyard.
We love kids, but this is an adults only wedding due to space and financial limitations. We want all our guests to be able to enjoy themselves and be present.
We will have van shuttles going to and from the city center to the venue at intervals to bring guests to the wedding and transport them back after.
