Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Ashley Norman and Marty Coombs Jr.
If you are planning to take full advantage of your travels and turn this into a vacation, here are some greats things to do and see! If you go see any of these places, we'd love to hear all about it! :)

Charlottesville

Charlottesville, VA

For a pretty comprehensive list of the top things to do and see in Charlottesville, please click the "View" icon below! There's even some great options to take your kiddos to!

Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards

Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards

5022 Plank Road, North Garden, VA 22959

Approximately 20 minutes from Charlottesville, VA. Approximately 15 minutes from our venue Pippin Hill Farm is a boutique vineyard in North Garden, Virginia, known for its award-winning estate wines, locally-sourced cuisine, and stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Fun Fact! This was one of the venues we toured for our wedding! Even though we did not select it for our big day, after we toured Rock Spring Mountain Farm we came here with our best friends and celebrated our engagement and finding our venue!

Carter Mountain Orchard and Country Store

Carter Mountain Orchard and Country Store

1435 Carters Mountain Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Approximately 15 minutes from both hotels Approximately 30 minutes from venue "Our mountaintop location affords spectacular views of Charlottesville, the Piedmont, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our bakery serves fresh-baked pies and cookies, hand-dipped ice cream, and our famous Apple Cider Donuts! Apple Cider, Apple Butter, jams and jellies, local crafts, pumpkins, and gourmet food products available in our country store. Wine tasting and sales on site, and the Mountain Grille serves lunch."

Monticello - Home of Thomas Jefferson

Monticello - Home of Thomas Jefferson

931 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Within walking distance from both hotels! Approximately 30 minutes from our venue Monticello is the autobiographical masterpiece of Thomas Jefferson—designed and redesigned and built and rebuilt for more than forty years—and its gardens were a botanic showpiece, a source of food, and an experimental laboratory of ornamental and useful plants from around the world. Guided tours of the house are offered daily throughout the year; outdoor gardens and plantation tours are offered daily April-October. Children under 5 are free.

Luray Caverns

Luray Caverns

101 Cave Hill Road, Luray, VA 22835

We went here on our first road trip together! It is absolutely stunning and easy to traverse :) Located approximately 1 hour 30 minutes from Charlottesville, VA. Luray Caverns is the largest cavern in the eastern United States, yet walking through it feels unlike any place on Earth. Visit Geology’s Hall of Fame. Take a tour along lighted paved walkways that lead you through cathedral-sized rooms with ceilings 10 stories high, towering stone formations, and natural wonders at every turn. These caverns are home to The Great Stalacpipe Organ which is an electrically actuated, or manually played, lithophone located in Luray Caverns, Virginia, USA. Covering 3.5 acres of the cavern, it is considered the world's largest instrument by Guinness World Records!
