How We Met

Fall 2015: 3 Vino's Covina, California

On a Wednesday Salsa Night at 3 Vinos, Angel looked across the dance floor and was drawn by Marissa’s beauty. Angel approached Marissa without hesitation and asked her to dance. Without knowing, Marissa accepted a dance with her life-long partner. That Wednesday night was unforgettable. Although they had just met, Marissa and Angel felt like they knew each other from grade school. Marissa was captivated by Angel’s charm, charisma, and bright smile. Angel was obsessed with her beauty, class, and personality. For the following months, Angel was steadfast on going out on a date, and Marissa finally succumbed. Their first date was on August 12, 2016, and they danced the night away. At the end of the night, their Uber driver asked if they were married. They both looked at each other, chuckled, and replied “this is our first date!” That night, after losing his keys in the Uber, Angel told his close friend, “I’m going to marry this girl.” Although Angel has lost countless items since their first date, he has held Marissa for dear life. They made it official on October 29th, 2016.

The Proposal

The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara, California: 11/09/2019

Hours before he popped the question, Angel was struggling to control his emotions. Truthfully, he was drowning in nerves and anxiety. Angel was overwhelmed with emotions not because he was worried whether she would say yes (how could she turn him down). He was overwhelmed with emotions because it was a moment Angel knew would happen since their first date—and the day was finally here. As the day progressed, his emotions multiplied, and it was a miracle that Marissa did not grow suspicious. Nothing seemed to calm his nerves. Suddenly, minutes before he popped the question, he was surprisingly calm. The moment was finally here. At sunset on the Santa Barbara coast, Angel got on one knee and said, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” Marissa’s knees grew weak (literally). She crouched down and said “YES!” It is a moment that will forever be etched into their hearts and minds. They cannot wait to share their upcoming wedding with their loved ones and most importantly share the rest of their lives loving one another. "I am yours, you are mine, from this day, till the end of my days."
