Who would have thought a simple message on Facebook would lead to a lifetime of love? What started as conversations through a screen quickly became something neither of us could ignore. The connection was effortless. Every message, every phone call felt like we were rediscovering someone we had known all along. On 11/11/23, we had our first date — horseback riding and walking through the North Florida Fair, laughing like kids and talking like old souls. We spoke about life, purpose, our shared love for God, and in that moment something shifted. There was peace and we knew this was the start of our journey.

Christmas Day 2024 was special for so many reasons. We gathered with family for a cozy Christmas morning— counting down the final weeks to meet our son, dressed in matching pajamas, opening presents and cherishing the moment. After everything was unwrapped, Maurice said, “Koya, you have one more present under the tree.” As Makoya turned around, there he was — down on one knee, smiling from ear to ear, asking her to marry him. With tears full of joy, she said, “YES.” It was the best Christmas gift ever.

On a cool January day, we exchanged our vows in an intimate courthouse ceremony. Just us, our love, and God at the center.
