Wedding Party

Katie Havens

Matron of Honor

How I Met the Bride: Rebecca and I met freshmen year at Sonoma State. We were in the same sorority, but became close when we realized we lived near each other (Shoutout to Zinfandel Village). Favorite Rebecca Memory: Rebecca and I moved to Washington, DC together in 2013. My favorite memories were making the mundane things fun. One time we rented a van to pick up free furniture, but ending up crying laughing on a floppy bed in the middle of the parking lot or whenever we cleaned our place before we had friends over, we would also have a T-Swift dance party.

Krista Parker

Maid of Honor

How I Met the Bride: Rebecca and I met in DC when she was Katie's plus 1 to Friends-giving in 2013. What started as an acquaintance relationship grew into one of the strongest and valued relationships in my life. Favorite Rebecca Memory: We were lucky enough to live together in DC. From themed parties to sitting on the couch during snowstorms,to her crawling into my bed with a cup of coffee, I am so thankful for that period of time in our young DC lives and the memories we made there. I am honored to be able to stand beside her as she marries her partner in life

How I Met the Bride: 1999, 4th grade, Gisler Elementary. Rebecca & I were sworn enemies. Luckily, we were in the same 5th grade class & became best friends quickly after that. We even started an exclusive club, as really cool kids do. Secret handshakes & all! I’ve been lucky to have her in my life ever since. Favorite Memory: It's hard to choose just one, after 20+ years of friendship! As I mentioned, we did not like each other in 4th grade. We both played the flute & I hated band. I told the teacher I didn't have my flute w/ me so I wouldn’t have to practice. Rebecca saw my flute in my backpack, told the teacher, & I was forced to stay for band. Rebecca sure was proud of herself! And as we all know, she not someone who is scared to speak her mind, one of the things I love about her most!

Groomsman

How I Met the Groom: Martin and I first met during an intense, all-out, introductory roller skating lesson my sister was giving me when I was about 5 years old. While my experiences in roller skating did not last, our friendship certainly did! Favorite Memory: After practically 30 years, I can look back and see so many memories that I simply cannot choose only one. Childhood, Boy Scouts, elementary/middle/high school events, ending up on the east coast at the same time and for approximately the same duration, serving as my Best Man in 2017, then both of us returning to the west/southwest; too difficult to choose one favorite memory. I will say that Martin continues to be one of the most trustworthy, honest, steadfast and downright funniest people I have ever met.

How I Met the Bride: A crisp day in the fall of '08, the trees dressed in vibrant hues & the sun shone over SSU, the backdrop of where it began. The morning calm until the campus erupted w/freshmen moving into their dorms. The girls remained strangers until fate crept in. It was after sorority recruitment & the girls choosing GPhiB, that their stories changed forever. Favorite Memory? Irrelevant for Rebecca & I, all our memories are favorites. From joining GPhi & wearing pink flip flops, Panhellenic Exec, living together, trips to SF, Sol Food, & Bodega Bay, & the occasional run to T-Bell, I've been fortunate enough to have over a decade of belly laughing, ridiculous, life-changing memories w/ Rebecca. Here’s to the next decade of memories, starting w/ belting ‘Shout’ on the dancefloor.

Bridesmaid

How I Met The Bride: We met on Bid Day @ SSU. Both of us excited to be in Gamma Phi Beta. We bonded over so much, little did we know, we would be friends forever! Favorite Memory: It's hard to pick 1! We've shared roadtrips, nights out, Annual Prizer Xmas Parties, & BFF Charms. A few favs: Celebrating our 1st SSU Halloween together as a girl scout & a referee. Roadtrip to SF for NYE, convincing all our friends to join us, we RULED the stairs! When I visited DC, we missed the fireworks but cam across a neighborhood setting them off in the street. Best show ever! The next day, we watched Friends all day, knowing nothing needed to be said, we just missed each other's presence. Or, the time I met Martin and I thought, this guy fits in her life like he's been there forever. Now he will be!

Groomsman

How I Met the Groom: Martin and I met at Christian Brothers HS on the freshman football team. Favorite Memory: After 24 years of friendship its hard to pick one memory but here are some events that shine a light on some of the things we had fun doing over the years. Lake Havasu houseboat, Radiohead Concert, Peter Frampton Concert, SMC basketball games, and meeting at our favorite watering holes after work.
