How We Met

A long long time ago...

Matthew and Madison met as youth during youth group a long long time ago but they didn't think much of it at the time. Then they reconnected many years later as small group leaders at a different youth group. Matthew was persistent & determined while Madison was oblivious & stubborn. For their first date Matthew took Madison to see one of her favorite things, Christmas Lights. They share in their love for delicious food, a passion to serve the Lord, and a devotion to their dance moves - Matthew's favorite of Madison's is the antelope.

The Proposal

11.30.19

Madison was under the impression that it was just a normal date night. She took her time getting ready - so much time that she threw off the entire schedule of events for the day. After leaving the house a whole two hours after the scheduled time, they headed to Sundance Square in Forth Worth, TX. After a delicious dinner that Matthew barely remembers he walked her down to the big Christmas Tree at the center of Sundance Square. With the reminder of their first date in mind, he got down on one knee and popped the big question. After a big "YES" from Madison, lots of hugs & kisses, a way too curious random individual in some of their photos, they headed back to the house for a big surprise engagement party to be surrounded by friends and family. Needless to say, it was a perfect day that lead us to the planning of our even more perfect wedding day!

COVID-19

3.20.20

When our venue called and our May 3rd date had to be postponed due to COVID-19, we looked at each other over the strawberries in Target and said "Let's just get married!!". So we moved the date to March 22nd. Then when Governor Abbott announced no gatherings over 10 people after a certain date, we talked to each other over the phone and said "Let's just get married!!". So we moved the date (again) to March 20th - before limited gatherings would go into effect. The first day of spring. On March 20, 2020 at 6:50 PM (because we got excited and impatient and started early), Madison became Mrs. Martinez in the living room of Matthew's parent's home surrounded by a few family and friends. Now Matthew and Madison are excited to celebrate with all of you!!
