It was Sam's birthday weekend and to celebrate, we decided to fly up to New York to be surrounded by friends and family. I had a slight suspicion that Sam would be proposing but after going through airport security and watching him handle his bags without a care in the world, it didn't look like a man trying to protect a diamond ring. As the day progressed we had no plans, only to go out to eat with his family that evening. Every hope I had that he would propose was becoming less and less realistic. So when he asked me if I wanted to go see the sunset, I thought nothing of it. Sam, Angela, and I walked down his street to a dock overlooking the river. You can see the planes taking off and the lights from the city. It was a special place that Sam took me when I first visited him two years ago. As we got closer, I noticed Angela falling farther behind and heard her take a "phone call." That's when I started thinking that this was it. It's finally happening! I was looking out over the river and Sam was behind me and when I turned around he said, "I think you know why we're here" - classic Sam. And the rest is history. I am so excited to become Mrs. Martinez and spend forever with Sam!
