Explore the beach town of Encinitas. Plenty of local shopping, breweries, and eateries. Also, only a 10ish minute walk to the beach!
Don't want to drive? Take the coaster along the San Diego County Coast. The coaster stops at the following cities: Downtown San Diego, Old Town, Sorrento Valley, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Oceanside. Connor and I once did a day trip from Old Town to Carlsbad on the coaster. While in Carlsbad we went wine tasting and enjoyed a long walk on the Carlsbad beach.
Balboa park is only 40 minutes south of Encinitas area and has a wonderful variety of museums. It is also a beautiful place to walk around and enjoy the architecture.
Visit the world famous zoo located right next to balboa park.
Another option is the San Diego Safari Park. At this location, you can enjoy a safari ride and see more animals.
Unfortunately, they will not be playing the weekend of our wedding but they do have a home stance the following weekend from April 11-16. However, the park is open to the public when the team is at away games.
Easy hike with great views. Highly recommend taking the beach trail. This will start you at the top of the bluffs and end on the beach.
Cross the Coronado Bridge to Coronado Island or take the ferry from Embarcadero to Coronado Island. Spend the day on the island visiting the famous Hotel Del, picnicking at the beach, or roaming the local shops.
Visit the Top Gun House in Oceanside and indulge in some yummy pies.
Carlsbad State Beach has a 1 mile round trip concrete surface trail. This allows you to walk "on the beach" without getting too sandy.
