What God Has Joined

We met in high school at Flatirons Academy through mutual friends. There was always a little interest between us, but life seemed to keep pulling us in different directions—Josh was planning to attend Grand Canyon University, and before long we had both gone our separate ways. A year later, Katelynn also chose to attend GCU while Josh’s plans shifted in a different direction. We crossed paths a few times that summer, but once again, timing wasn’t quite on our side when Katelynn moved to Arizona. That fall, after an injury delayed Josh’s plans, he started visiting friends at GCU—and that’s when everything finally began to change. Over Thanksgiving break back in Colorado, we ended up at one of our friends’ bonfires and decided it would be a good idea to take a canoe out on the lake… which lasted about ten minutes before we tipped over and had to swim back to shore in freezing November water. Somewhere between that unforgettable night and the rest of the week, something clicked. Not long after, Josh asked Katelynn on their first official date. From there, our relationship started with a few months of long distance, lots of travel, and learning how to navigate life together along the way. Soon after, Josh decided to continue his education at GCU, and we were excited to experience college together! Then, on August 3, 2025, during a sunrise hike in Boulder, Josh proposed. Now, exactly one year later, we can’t wait to celebrate the beginning of this next chapter with all of you on August 3, 2026.
