Looking back, we never actually had a formal introduction. We went to the same high school and college. In high school, we never spoke a word to each other and then at the start of college we ended up being neighbors in the dorms. After a year of awkward interactions in the hallway and silent elevator rides from the 8th floor, we ran into each other in the spring of 2017 outside of our building. It was at an event with a Christian club that we both became very involved with. Over the next year we made a lot of mutual friends and slowly, our lives became more intertwined. It didn’t take long for my crush to develop once I started spending more time with Sarina. It took me a handful of months to admit it, but I eventually told her how I felt and not long after that we went on our first date in October 2019. If you ask a lot of our friends who saw our friendship develop, this date was a long time coming.
| His Side | It was on a Thursday, a day that I had been planning for months. I had her friends make plans with her to go out to dinner while I "played basketball," but really I was setting up a picnic at a park. When she was dropped off at the park, I walked her across the bridge and onto a dock. At the end of the dock I asked her to spend the rest of her life with me. And she said YES! | Her Side | As most of you know I have been getting my nails done in preparation for this day for about 6 months now. So I was pretty suspicious of him actually being able to surprise me since I was suspicious every time we did anything fun. Since Thursday basketball is such sacred guy time I had no clue he would plan to do it the day he did. In a car full of some of my closest friends being dropped off with him waiting there for me I knew what was about to go down. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to get to marry Martin!
