We met on Halloween night in 2016, NINE YEARS AGO— at our late friend Victoria's Halloween party. She introduced us without even realizing she was setting the rest of our lives in motion. From the moment we connected, we were inseparable.. honestly, it was a little scary how much we liked each other. Within days it’s felt like we were best friends, learning everything about each other. And Martina swears that by day three, she already knew Hakeem was "the one." We're so proud to say that we truly grew up together. We navigated the world of adulthood together, building a love grounded in friendship, trust, and the kind of growth you only get when you experience life hand-in-hand. Years later came the proposal — a day that was supposed to be a simple fishing trip for Hakeem's birthday. I should've known something was up... Hakeem wanting to celebrate his birthday? That alone was suspicious. He convinced me we'd be fishing in Taos, and I had no idea he was hiding a ring the whole time. Taos, a mountain that means so much to us as big-time snowboarders. It's actually where we fell in love. Hakeem suggested we stop by the ski valley since we were already up there, and I was all for it. Looking back, he was acting so weird... especially when the lift was getting close to the top and he yelled to the operator, "Can we get off here?!" When they said yes, we hopped off, hiked a little, and took in the view we've seen so many times in the snow - except this time it was fall. Then he turned around and said, "Well, I guess this is as good a spot as any.." and the love of my life got down on one knee. After asking if it was a joke about five times, I finally said YES. On the mountain where our love grew, he asked me to marry him - and somehow he pulled off the surprise perfectly. We're so excited for the future, so blessed to have each other, and we can't wait for a lifetime of adventures. Here's to many more snowboarding trips... and to becoming The Moores.
Matthew- We’re also holding my brother Matthew close in our hearts. His birthday was February 21, and getting married on his birthday feels like a huge blessing. It means everything to us that our wedding day falls on a day that already holds so much love. Matthew was truly one of the funniest, brightest people I’ve ever known, and there isn’t a day I don’t think about him. We’re so grateful we get to honor him in such a special way. Victoria- Victoria is such a huge part of our story. I convinced her to throw a Halloween party back in 2016, and I had no idea that night would change my whole life. That’s where I met Hakeem, and honestly, if it wasn’t for her, none of this would even be happening. We miss her so much, and we carry her with us in every step of this journey.
