Martha & Gytis’s perfectly unperfect story began in the wonderful city of San Jose, CA. Living in the dorms two floors from one another, mutual friends allowed for their lives to cross paths. However, it was not love at first sight. Gytis' big personality, goofy and full of energy, was a bit much for Martha and she was unsure of how to handle it. Gytis began to try and become more than friends with Martha, but she was not willing to give it a try. Gytis kept on pursuing Martha for over a year until one night Martha finally decided to take the leap. Gytis & Martha grew their friendship by taking road trips with one another to Los Angeles to visit their families. The more time they spent with each other the more they grew closer. They shared their first kiss on New Year’s 2013, which kicked the relationship into gear, and they both knew this was something special.

Gytis made Martha breakfast in bed, but it was not something out of the ordinary. Gytis brought up two plates and was on one knee by the bed, which Martha didn’t notice. He said "I have something in my pocket," and pulled out a fork and gave it to Martha for her food and then said "I have something else," and Martha thought it was fork for Gytis. Martha didn't notice the ring, all she heard was the magical words. Gytis told Martha to look at the ring and asked if she noticed anything. There were two doves and Gytis said: "Those are so your Grandma Martha is always with us." Gytis knew how important she was to Martha, he knew how she impacted Martha's life and he knew the love and joy she brought everyone, and her symbol was the dove.
