This gorgeous mountain retreat is one of Andy & Martha’s favorite camping spots, and has the Rocky Mountain beauty you’re looking for, without the traffic and chaos of the national park. The Raccoon Trail is a fun 2.5 mile loop to Panorama Point, a stunning overlook of the continental divide!
The Peak to Peak National Forrest Scenic Byway is a 55-mile stretch of road between Estes Park and Blackhawk, Colorado by way of Nederland. This elevated excursion features many pull-offs for photos, hikes, lakes, and fresh mountain air! At the south end of the route, Blackhawk and Central City offer picturesque victorian-era mountain buildings and homes, casinos, and a Colorado Central Railroad locomotive on display at the corner of Miners Mesa Road & Main Street
A 50-minute drive across the beautiful vistas of the peak to peak highway, Nederland is a quaint mountain town with an old-school wooded sidewalk downtown. Highlights include an old train car with a coffee shop inside, the carousel of happiness, peaceful walks along Boulder Creek and Barker Reservoir. This college town has a ton of food and entertainment options! Andy's family has deep roots in the area, and the flatirons offer a view like no other! The Pearl street mall offers book stores, patio dining, coffee shops and more. The iconic flatirons can be optimally viewed from Chautauqua park trails, or the national center for atmospheric research. The boulder creek path is excellent for flat walks along the water, and the city offers affordable e-bikes for rent. You can also explore the university of Colorado campus. Avanti has a ton of food options food hall style, with a rooftop with great views!
Twenty minutes east of Lyons is Longmont, another Boulder County town with tons of breweries, restaurants, and events. Andy and Martha took their engagement photos in the quaint downtown! Check out the St. Vrain creek trail and Landline Doughnuts and Coffee. For a late-night eat, we recommend the Waffle House
The Rockies may not be very good at baseball right now, but going to Coors Field is always a good time! There are home games every day July 1st-7th, and tickets are usually very affordable.
