It all started...in Canada? That's right! At the Vancouver Convention Center where we were introduced on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Martha was fresh on the job, coordinating the American Academy of Neurology's Brain Health Fair. Sean was establishing himself as a client manager overseeing event set-up. It would be revealed years later, that two sets of sparks flew at that small moment. We kept working and continued this pattern of only seeing each other for about 10 days a year, once a year, in a different city, for four years. Over the course of those four years and five conferences together, our connection only grew stronger. Any free time we found was spent together if possible. When we weren't "on the clock" hoping to catch the other's glance in the convention hallways like middle school tweens, we were exploring a new city away together as colleagues and friends - (but always keeping our eyes out for the best Irish pubs and live music/karaoke!) Things changed in April 2019, when we decided it was time to let each other know how we'd been feeling. We will let our guests and loved ones figure out who confessed their love first, but as evidenced by this story, the feelings were mutual. Sean made his first solo trek up I-94 to Minnesota a couple of months later, and the rest truly was history. We were engaged August 7th of 2020, the brightest spot either of us could have asked for amid one of the most stressful years of our lives. We thank everyone who has been there since day one supporting us and our love for each other. We feel so incredibly lucky. Thanks for reading our love story - we can't wait to share our wedding day with you!
