New Year, Newlyweds

She would say they met line dancing. He would say they met in a bar (tongue-in-cheek). Neither are wrong. A Wednesday night at The 8 Seconds Saloon marks the start of Marta and Zachary's love story two years ago. From across the dance floor, Zachary had first noticed Marta several weeks prior to their official introduction. He was in luck when he discovered that a mutual friend could help move the two from stranger status to a first name basis. Marta's first impression of the Kentucky native was his handsome smile and southern manners. The line dance lesson that evening conveniently was a couples dance, and each now had a partner. One lesson later and a few laps around the dance floor, Marta and Eric were officially acquainted..... wait no, did he say his name was Zach? Until the following Wednesday when Zachary officially asked Marta for her phone number, Marta was unknowingly calling Zachary the wrong name. In Marta's defense, loud music and dark dance floors drastically hinder one's ability to hear clearly. Thankfully, Zachary's commitment prevailed, and the two set their first date for the following week, correct names and all.

Tuesdays have been the consistent date night for Marta and Zachary throughout their relationship: making dinner together, evening walks, a Sequence series that is active to this day, and of course, ice cream treats. Tuesday, July 1, 2025 was similar in nature. Dinner at one of Marta's favorite downtown restaurants, followed with ice cream from a local shop, and then a stroll to the Indiana War Memorial as the sun was going down. This date night, however, ended with a big surprise... The Indiana War Memorial is where Marta and Zachary had their first official date in September of 2023, and where Zachary asked Marta to marry him.
