Christopher and Michelle’s story began long ago as kids at Paradise Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church. Despite crossing paths back then, they never interacted—after all, Christopher, five years older, was “too cool.” Fast forward to August 5, 2022. Michelle felt drawn to attend a Friday night vespers for young adults at Camelback Seventh-day Adventist Church. Sitting on the right side of the church, she noticed a familiar face across the aisle: Mr. Christopher Kolson, looking “quite nice” after all these years. After the program, Christopher approached her, saying simply, “Michelle?”—and a conversation began. They bonded over church, individual travel stories, and a mutual fondness for Formula 1 racing all ensconced in an abundance of humor. Hours flew by, and when they finally exchanged numbers, their conversation continued late into the night. That evening, Christopher asked if there might be “something there.” Although Michelle acknowledged the connection, she gently declined. Undeterred, Christopher prayed, asking God to guide him and close doors if this wasn’t meant to be. Trusting in prayer, he invited Michelle on a group trip to Sedona. She initially couldn’t go but surprised him by texting late the night before that her plans had changed. The next day, they drove to Sedona together. Michelle was charmed by his Subaru BRZ but even more impressed by Christopher’s kindness, sincerity, and humor. His depth, faith, and lightheartedness made her realize how special he truly was. After several dates—and just one month later—on September 2, 2022, Michelle playfully told him, “You can ask me now.” Under the beautiful ambiance of the garage door light. On July 21, 2024, Christopher surprised Michelle with a trip to Flagstaff, Arizona, for “a few more photos together.” As they explored forests and meadows, time slipped by until Michelle, hungry, nudged him to wrap up. Setting up the camera one last time, Christopher asked her to close her eyes for a “surprise gift.” When she opened them, the love of her life was on one knee, asking if she would accept him as her forever companion. Her “Yes!” couldn’t have come fast enough.
