Marshall and Regina met in middle school. Marshall was 14 and Regina was 12. According to Marshall, he was walking down the stairs at Festus Middle school and Regina was walking up them and she passed him, he immediately turned to his buddy and said, "Whoa, who is that?!" his friend said "That's Zach's little sister." From that moment, Marshall's plan was to befriend Regina's older brothers to get closer to Regina without being too obvious. So, Marshall reached out to Regina's older brother that night and was over at their house before the end of the week. Every day was like that, Marshall would walk or ride his bike the two miles to Regina's house after school. He would join in on the fun of picking on Regina with her two older brothers and get into all kinds of shenanigans with them. Regina secretly loved the extra attention from Marshall and played right into his game and had a huge crush on Marshall. They spent months picking on each other and building a friendship. Eventually, Marshall's master plan worked, and Marshall was Regina's first love and first kiss. Marshall and Regina dated off and on through middle school and high school and eventually went their separate ways in high school for what Regina thought was for good. Marshall and Regina were headed down very different paths and Marshall knew Regina was going to make something of herself and Marshall wasn't quite sure how he fit into that equation without holding Regina back. So, Regina went off to school and built a career for herself but always kept tabs on Marshall from a distance, she would hear from Marshall over the years but she never allowed herself to respond and knew the way things ended was for the best. In that time, Marshall went through the darkest times of his life and eventually turned his life around. He gave his life to God and started living a life worth living, leaving all the darkness behind him. That's a story for another day, but it eventually led Marshall and Regina back to each other. Because Regina always kept tabs on Marshall through the years, she knew that Marshall had changed his life around and so when Marshall reached out to her in 2021, she tried her best to ignore it, and did so for two weeks until she couldn't do it any longer and decided to give Marshall a piece of her mind. She was maybe a little bitter for how things ended in high school. Marshall apologized profusely and eventually got through to Regina, but Regina knew it was best to leave things how they were, so she wished Marshall the best and left it at that. Two weeks later Regina reached out to Marshall and that was it. Regina is convinced it was an act of God, because if you know Regina, she's as stubborn as they come and can tend to let her pride get the best of her. Eventually, Regina let Marshall take her out on a date and even though literally everything had changed in both of their lives, the love they had for each other was exactly the same as it was all those years ago. Regina knew as soon as Marshall hugged her and picked her up that she was still madly and deeply in love with him and she couldn't pretend anymore that she wasn't. Since their first date they have been inseparable. Marshall, who swore he would never get married, proposed to Regina 4 months into their relationship. Now they are getting married! Marshall and Regina are huge believers in God's timing, and their story is their favorite example of that.
