What a random Monday!

June 10, 2024

Monday, June 10, 2024, started out just like every Monday… WORK. Ugh. After work I called Marsh just like I do every day when I get off to let him know I am on the way home! While on the phone, he asked if I wanted to go for a ride that evening. That was a normal question and something we do often. When I got home, we sat down and ate dinner like every other day. After dinner we changed clothes to get ready to ride. That day I had put on a pair of biker shorts when I got home and for some reason I was adamant that it was too hot and I was just going to ride in biker shorts that day. (Don’t tell my grandaddy!) Marsh pleaded with me to put on jeans and after several minutes of me arguing with him, I finally caved and put on jeans. Next up we go outside to catch horses and saddle up. Once we got on Marsh asked me to go towards the back of our property, which wasn’t our normal route but for some odd reason was the route I had already planned to take. (Devine Intervention?) Once we get back to the back of our property, Marsh told me there was something wrong with my cinch and climbed down off of Smoke to “check it out”. He asked me to get down and take a look at it because something didn’t look right. Guess what my stubborn self did! If you said argue with him, you’d be right! Oops. Because I’m hard headed, I refused to get down to look at this cinch. Marshall once again pleaded with me to get down. After several minutes of going back and forth Marsh looked me in the eye and said “baby, please just get off the horse”. I gave up. And as I started to get off my horse something clicked in my head that something was up. But I didn’t want to jump to conclusions and be wrong so instant denial set in inside my head. This is not happening. Once I got off, Marshall reached into his saddle bag and pulled out a box. Which Smoke then knocked out of his hand… horses. Ha. Once smoothly recovered in the air he turned to me and all I could say is WHAT IS THAT? Marsh grabbed my hand and got down on one knee. His famous line “I don’t even remember what I was going to say, but I want you to be my wife” My response: tears, lots of tears. And OF COURSE! Before fully even taking in the moment or getting a picture. Thunder started rolling and rain began to fall. We raced back up to the house to unsaddle and turn out horses while it POURED down rain. Once we both made it in the house, completely drenched Marsh said “that went nothing like I had planned”. To me, it was perfect. Rain and all. And it wouldn’t have been complete without my stubbornness. After we put dry clothes on, I sat down just taking it all in and said “Wow. What a random Monday” and that’s my famous line. I still cannot believe I get to marry my absolute best friend and the best man I could’ve ever dreamed to call mine. Xoxo, Kels
