Helen and Marshall met for the first time at Johnny Rad's for some "bomb vegan cheesesteaks" after matching on Hinge a few days before. Despite Helen dodging Marshall's proposal to FaceTime prior to their meeting (she was too nervous!) and chatting with another guy at the bar (a friend who happened to be a boy) while waiting for Marshall to arrive, he persisted in his efforts and won her over instantly. They bonded on their first date about their similar lifestyles including veganism and sobriety, and decided to extend their evening to another venue to listen to some live music and spend a little more time together. They've been feasting on vegan food and boogying at concerts together ever since.

Marshall proposed on Christmas morning in 2023. Christmas is Helen's favorite holiday, and Marshall wanted to make this year extra special. It came time for Helen to open her gift from Marshall, which she was very excited to find out was matching outfits from a band they both love. Who doesn't love twinning with their partner?! Just when she thought she had gotten to the bottom of the giant gift bag, she found there was another box at the bottom... or rather, a few more boxes. She began opening the first box, which revealed another, and another, until she got to the core where there was a little, black jewelry box. As soon as she opened it, Marshall got on one knee and proposed in front of her family and their two dogs. Needless to say, she said yes!
