There are several ways to reach the hut: 1. Park at the Ammonoosuc Trailhead near the Cog Railway. (I believe parking is not free but cheap. It is okay to park overnight.) Hike up the Ammonoosuc trail, which is the most direct but quite steep (or Jewel River Trail, which is longer but less steep). Both trails take you to the Lake of the Clouds Hut. - https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-hampshire/mount-washington-via-ammonoosuc-ravine-trail - https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-hampshire/jewell-trail 2. Take the Cog Railway (https://www.thecog.com/), which runs 8-4pm. Tickets are ~$70 a person and the journey up takes ~90 minutes. From the top of Mt. Washington, it is a ~60-90 minute hike down the mountain to the Lake of the Clouds hut. 3. Park at the Mt. Washington Toll House and take the hiker shuttle up. It is first come first serve, does not take reservations. https://mt-washington.com/hiker-shuttle/
Depending on how you got up, your options are as follows: 1. Hike down the way you came 2. Take the train back down 3. The hiker shuttle can also take you back down. https://mt-washington.com/hiker-shuttle/
Ellen and Marshall are going to be wearing a suit and dress, but we highly encourage to dress for comfort to maximize your enjoyment of nature. Hiking gear is the best move, but try to avoid logos or excessively distracting graphics. Hiking pants, athletic dresses, leggings, t-shirts, etc.
You're right! But you are our friends and family and will jump through hoops for our love. <3 In all seriousness, Ellen and I took this journey two years ago and were inspired by another lovely couple doing the same thing.
