I'm named after my grandfather Marshall Dailey (mom's dad) and my brothers' childhood hero and neighbor Brian Spore. I'm really grateful to be named after my Papa. He loved us all so much and I pray to love Bethany and our future kids the way he loved Ganny, my mom and aunts. I'm son to Bob and Cissy, brother to Rob and Brett, brother-in-law to Jennifer and Emily and uncle to Caitlin, Austin, Will, Molly and Paige. Bethany and I share a deep love for our families. I'm so thankful for them. I'm a dog dad to Major, Tucker and Colt, all golden retrievers. Goldens are my spirit animal and favorite pet. Don't worry, Bethany will only have to share me with Colt; Major and Tucker now live with my parents. I was born and raised in Lufkin, TX. I grew up the youngest in my immediate and extended family and one of the younger kids in my parents' community. As such, I’m everyone's baby and I have many “parents;” you know, the people that still to this day call me a son and invite me to their family Christmas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, with a degree in accounting. During my college days, Texas won the national championship in football and baseball and played in the final four in basketball. Hook’em Horns! I grew up knowing Jesus, but in high school I got involved with Young Life, which gave me confidence in how to live with Him and talk about Him. I became a leader in college and spent my summers serving at a YL camp. After graduating, I began a career with Young Life at Saranac, at YL camp in the mountains of NY, where I lived and worked for 8 years. Feeling led toward change, I left my job and moved to Austin, where I spent 3 of the most challenging and incredible years of my life. It was well worth it. Today I am the camp manager at SharpTop Cove, a Young Life camp in north Georgia. I love my work and the Lord’s call on my life to create space for others to encounter Jesus Christ. I can’t wait to create these spaces TOGETHER with Bethany!
Hi! For those who don't know me yet...I am from Herndon, Virginia. My parents are Bob and Leisa, and I am the fourth of NINE siblings (Christie, David, Joshua, Bethany, Daniel, John, Abraham, Boaz, Peter)! I have 4 amazing siblings in-law, and nine nephews and nieces (many more to come). I graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelors in Nursing. (This is also where I first became involved with Young Life) After college, I moved to Denton, Texas to do a nine month Women's Discipleship Program. I always said, "I didn't move with an 'exit strategy'. The Lord made it clear to go and I knew one day He would make it clear if it was time to leave." I have worked as a nurse in Dallas and Fort Worth for the last 5 years, and currently love working in Labor and Delivery. I have been a volunteer Young Life College Leader for 3 years at the University of North Texas, and I have been a volunteer nurse at the local Pregnancy Resource Center for 5.5 years. I love to travel, run, snowboard, hike, two-stepping, ice cream, popcorn, Texas brisket, surprises, and much more. It's funny to wonder what would be if things with Marshall and I had started when we met five years ago. But we both agree and are thankful for these years where we have grown and learned so much. The Lord is faithful and we are thankful to get to do life together now! Haha, the Lord has made it clear that it's time to go, and I look forward to this next chapter in Georgia! We reflect often on how rich we are in family and friends! For those I haven't met yet... I already know I love you for the gift you've been in Marshall's life and I can't wait to meet you! (Hopefully this helps you feel like you know me a little more)
In the fall of 2013, we were both in Evan & Megan Bretschneider's wedding party. At the rehearsal, when Bethany rounded the corner to walk the aisle, Marshall leaned forward to Evan and not-so-subtly whispered "Who is that?! That's the prettiest girl I've ever seen!" Bethany was in a relationship and had just moved across the country, so no connection was made that weekend or for years to come. Aside from each of us occasionally asking about the other to Evan and Megan, we didn’t talk for almost four years. Then, as the Lord would have it, Bethany’s Young Life College girls served on a work week at SharpTop Cove in Georgia, the camp at which Marshall began working a few months prior. For each of us, an old name resurfaced and intrigue filled our minds. Six months later, we were together again with friends, this time ringing in the New Year in Richmond, VA. On New Year’s day 2018, we went on our first date and set in motion a little over a year of daily phone calls or Facetimes and monthly flights to see each other.
In the days leading up to a planned weekend in Texas, Marshall suggested we recreate our first "real" date. He was really casual and open to changes in the plans, so as much as Bethany hoped the day was coming, the date recreation just seemed like a cute idea. The plan was to have lunch at Press Cafe and then end up in Sundance Square for the proposal. This happened, but not without a few additional show and tell stops that Bethany added since it appeared to be just a sweet day together. We walked around the river after lunch, drove by her favorite park, stopped for Steel City Pops...meanwhile, Marshall is checking his pocket for the ring every 5 minutes and trying to breathe normally. He was real nervous. We finally made our way to Sundance Square, where we posed for the picture we never took on our first date. A few minutes later, declaring the completion of the first date recreation, Marshall said "I love you," words we had not said to each other yet, words we protected for this moment. He then said, "Bethany Grace, will you marry me?" SHE SAID YES! Marshall had planned the day with Bethany's close friends Jaren and Moraima White, who were hiding with a camera to capture it all! We capped it all off with a surprise gathering of close friends to celebrate our amazing day.
