The trip we were waiting for had finally arrived, Cabo! It was absolutely gorgeous, our entire trip was so scenic and romantic, and the whole time I kept telling him "you should've proposed out here, it would have been perfect!" Now keep that in mind, the day he proposed arrived, and it was anything from perfect. What we thought was going to be a day full of adventure, beach and fun, ended up being a 12 hour tour around Mexico and La Paz. I slept 90% of the time as we drove throughout the country. We did make some stops and shop cute little stores, but all we ended up buying were two coconut paletas. So we get an hour to roam La Paz, we eat our paletas and we stick our toes in the sand. He calls his mom and I start cracking up because we were so excited for this tour, and it ended up being a bust. I told him when we go home lets enjoy the Mexican fiesta and relax, all I wanted to do was spend the evening cuddled up. He insisted we go to the beach, so I ran to the shower so I could have a relaxing evening. As I come out with a towel wrapped around my head, I noticed he was dressed really nice but I didn't think anything of it. Meanwhile we're both on the balcony, the doors wide open, and we hear the fiesta going on. They play their final song, Tequila! and BAM, fireworks are going off and I am amazed as to how beautiful they were. As soon as I turn around to get Carlos, he was on his knee with a ring held out asking me to marry him. Bet your butt I started crying! I didn't even say anything I was so shocked, I always knew we'd get married one day but I did not expect him to ask me that night. He hugged me so tight and said "so will you?" I pulled myself together and said "Of course".
We met at work, what a cliché. Except, neither one of us knew one another for a few months. I got a call asking if I could give some of my hours to a "Carlos" because he didn't have any for the weekend, and I said heck yeah I get a weekend off! Then when we finally started working the same shifts he claimed to have "hired me", and I knew he did, but I tell him every time he didn't. But as time went on I noticed him checking me out, I was checking him out, we were vibing. On his days off he would come into the store and buy a single banana, not a group, a single banana and a water bottle, just to come through my lane and see me. I thought it was the cutest thing. Then he messaged me on twitter, asking me for the schedule, mind you he was my supervisor, so he already knew his schedule. Sneaky sneaky boy, so I gave him my number and said just text me. So as time went on we began to hang out outside of work, late night drives jamming to music, watching movies with his grandma, cooking dinner together, taking my brothers and sisters out, all the cute dates. Then February 14th, 2016 came around and I received roses, a card, and six multi-colored popsicle sticks that wrote out, "Will You Be My Girlfriend ?" I was so happy this man wanted to be with me because I sure as heck wanted to be with him. Now its almost 6 years later, college graduates, big girl/boy jobs, homeowners, we have fur-babies, 10 trips later, inviting Christ in, crazy fun adventures and I can't wait to keep going with you, now as husband and wife.
