FAQs

Question

What is the wedding attire?

Answer

Our wedding's attire is semi-formal! We want everyone to be comfortable enough to dance the night away, while looking stylish. For men, suits are required, but ties are optional. For women, please wear dresses that are knee length or below. Long dresses are perfect, but no gowns. Lastly, please wear darker tones. Check out this article that puts everything plain and simple. https://suitshop.com/blogs/news/semi-formal-wedding-attire/

Question

Am I allowed to bring my child/children?

Answer

We want this night and weekend to be all about fun and celebrating with you guys. Although we love all of our friends and family's kids, this will be an adult only wedding.

Question

Are there any other events/gatherings while we are here?

Answer

We will be holding a small welcome event on Friday night. Please check out the "schedule" tab of this website.

Question

How are we getting from the hotel to the wedding venue?

Answer

There will be buses transporting the guests from the Hotel to the venue. As of right now, departure time is set to 2:15-2:30 pm. Updates will be given as the date gets closer. Those buses will also bring us all back to the hotel after the reception.

Question

What should I wear in Bogota?

Answer

Bogota is considered mostly cold, with temperatures ranging from the low 50's to the mid 70's. Layers will be key as temperatures fluctuate throughout the day. Always have a small jacket at hand. Closed toe shoes are recommended. Definitely don't wear anything too fancy. Keep a low profile as you would in any other country outside the US.

Question

How do I get around?

Answer

Best way to get around in Bogota is via Uber. It is inexpensive and safe. Make arrangements to have available data service on your phone while you are here. If planning to do any tourist attractions, most of them offer a pick up and drop off. Use their transportation for those as well.

Question

Is there a private car service you recommend?

Answer

Yes! His name is Rodrigo Montoya, and his number is +57 312 383 7775. Best contacted via Whatsapp. If you have any questions, direct them to Jess.

Question

While in Colombia, how much should I tip?

Answer

Most restaurants are tipped at 10%. The server will usually ask you if you want to include the tip before running your card. Also, they never take the card from you, but run it right in front of you. For guides and drivers, $5-10 USD per day should be well received. Make sure you always ask to see prices before ordering.

Question

Any recommended safety tips?

Answer

Make sure your cell phone has service during your stay. You can check with your mobile provider prior to your trip. As mentioned previously, Uber is your best bet to get around. You don't have to download a separate app, but use the same one you use in the US. When your Uber arrives, check the front and back car plates to match the one specified by your app. Cars in Colombia are often small; consider ordering the comfort or XL option. As in any big city, pick pockets may be around. Take only what's necessary when you're touristing around. We usually use our pockets for money and ID, and prefer not to take purses or bags around, although you'll see plenty of locals doing so. You'll also see them with their smartphones out, texting or on a phone call. As a general consideration, we don't usually use our phones while we are walking around. If you're at a bar, keep your drink with you and at sight at all times. Basically, keep a low profile. No flashy clothes, electronics or jewelry. Again, just like in any big city, if something appears sketchy, walk away. Lastly, if you encounter any street beggars, don't fall for it. If you have any other specific questions, feel free to reach out.

Question

I've heard the altitude in Bogota is rough, any tips on preparing?

Answer

Bogota sits 8,612 feet above sea level. Thats comparable to some fo the highest cities in the US. Altitude sickness symptoms may include shortness of breath, dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, and headaches. Check with your physician first before following any tips, please! Iron supplements prior to your trip may help. You can also find Altitude Sickness patches. Usually, the first two days are the hardest. If you plan on going up to Monserrate, you'll notice the symptoms even more.
