Bria and DaShawn met in 2018 at brunch in Washington, DC. Bria was celebrating bridesmaid Krystyna's birthday and DaShawn was taking a break from the project he was in town working on. DaShawn sought her out that first day, but Bria was actually the one who initiated the first date. He had mentioned that he had been working nonstop and she offered to take him out to let loose for a change. The two went to dinner and spent the rest of the night talking and getting to know one another. From there, the rest is history. Bria and DaShawn were in a long distance relationship for about a year when the pandemic hit. Bria took what she thought would be a week-long trip to North Carolina to see DaShawn and ended up never leaving.

Nine months later, DaShawn began working on a plan to propose with the help of Bria's Maid of Honor, Miriam. The original plan unfortunately got rained out, but with quick improvisation a New Year's family introduction turned into the perfect time to ask for Bria's hand in marriage. DaShawn had their siblings create a distraction while his mother and in-laws helped prepare the setting following the ball drop. With the cue of their favorite song, Bria was led downstairs where she found DaShawn waiting inside a heart of rose petals. In front of their families, he confessed his love and asked Bria to spend the rest of their lives together.
