Our Beginning

It all started when Hannah picked up Luke's glove as he walked out of Happy Hands preschool together, as the mother of the bride, Adrienne, likes to tell the story. The story really began in between their junior and senior year of college. Hannah had recently come back from studying abroad and Luke needed a tennis partner. Hannah said she would play him as long as he wouldn't let her win (he won). One of their first few dates was at a local coffee shop, Flour House, where Luke later admitted he drank an entire cup of black coffee to impress Hannah (despite hating coffee). Hannah spent the rest of the summer in Colorado, but before she left Luke gave her a gift of 35mm film for her camera. She had mentioned film photography was one of her passions once, and of course Luke remembered. Hannah asked Adrienne, "So you think he really likes me?" to which she replied "Ya think??!" Throughout their last year of college Luke would drive from ISU to UIUC to visit Hannah a couple times a week. Their love grew over many movie nights and lots of trips to Merry Ann's diner for the best breakfast. Not long into their Senior year, Covid-19 hit and both Luke and Hannah moved home. To stay safe (and sane) during the pandemic lockdown many Monopoly and Mimosa mornings were had. They celebrated their first anniversary with a candlelit picnic dinner on top of the bridge Hannah's grandfather built. The day after, Luke surprised Hannah with two tickets to a trip of a lifetime to Ireland with their friends Eric and Jennah.

Growing Together

The pandemic brought Luke and Hannah closer together than ever before. They felt the next step in their relationship was to make a big move together to Longmont, Colorado. Luke's father, Todd, and Hannah's mother, Adrienne, helped them pack their things and drive a trailer across the country together. Luke and Hannah made a little home together in their Colorado apartment with their two cats, Oliver and Sasha. They hiked in the mountains and tried as many new breweries and restaurants they could find. Some of the best times they had were when family and friends came to visit and share in the fun Colorado has to offer. While in Colorado Hannah and Luke were brought even closer by cooking dinners in their kitchen, binge watching new tv shows together, and being each others biggest supporters. The apartment they shared may not have been the biggest, but they filled every inch of it with their love.

The Proposal

After being welcomed home to Princeton from Colorado by family and friends, they soon set off off another adventure to road trip around Ireland for a week in in the summer of 2021. Jennah took the lead as driver in their tiny rental car, with Eric in the front seat and Hannah and Luke snug in the back (along with their suitcases on top of them). Hannah had every detail mapped out of their adventure, except one. Near the end of their trip, the group stayed in a bed and breakfast in the small town of Doolin overlooking the sea, only a hike to the Cliffs of Moher as Hannah had planned it. On their hike through the pastures and along the Cliffs on July 29, Luke had Hannah stop to take a picture of their friends with her camera. While she was focusing on taking the perfect picture, Luke kept trying to interrupt the shot. Finally, Hannah, slightly annoyed, turned to see Luke on one knee.
