How We Met

We met at a batting cage that I (Katy) was working at while I was in school. Tyler told me enough about himself that I was able to look him up on his college's baseball roster so I could get his full name. I followed him on instagram, he sent me a message, and today we are the picture of the perfect millennial love story. Before we even hung out again, Tyler came to one of my softball games on HIS birthday and I was smitten. He was my biggest supporter for the remainder of the season and continues to be to this day!

The Proposal

On the fourth of July, 2019 Tyler asked my Grandma for permission to propose to me at her house so she (and the rest of our local family & friends) could be there. Unfortunately, Grandma went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on July 6. That meant that both of my parents and my brother and sister in law were going to be in Houston from California when he planned to propose. So, with permission from my family, Tyler proceeded as planned and proposed to me on July 13 at my grandma's house with my family and our closest friends there! The ring is made from diamonds from the ring his Grandma wore when his Grandpa proposed to her. It's so special to us how involved both of our families were in our engagement.

The Wedding, The Postponement, and The Other Postponement

We originally planned to have our big, everybody-invited wedding bash on October 4th, 2020. The coronavirus pandemic and 2020 had other plans! We were blessed with the opportunity to be united in marriage in a very small, intimate wedding ceremony in Tyler's parents' backyard on October 3rd, 2020. We thought pushing our wedding "reception" to May of 2021 would give plenty of time for things to calm down and allow us to feel comfortable having 150+ of our favorite people gather to celebrate our union. But, as the pandemic and mandates around it continued, we decided to shift our plans once again and host a one-year anniversary party at our would-have-been wedding venue. Of course this entire wedding season has been anything but "normal", but we are so grateful for our family and friends who have stuck with us through it all, and we could not be happier to be Mr. & Mrs. Marona. We absolutely love being husband and wife and we can't wait to celebrate year one with you all!!
