How We Met

December 2017

Kaleb was in The Marines and home on a recruiting job. He tried his best to recruit Sarah; assuming it was the only reason he could have for talking to her. Sarah had no interest in joining the military, but a cute boy in a uniform? She played along with it. They talked back and fourth for a while about the marines, traded life stories, but then minutes turned into days, and days turned weeks. Kaleb promised to see her the next time he was home, and he fulfilled the promise. Then, weeks turned into months, and months turned years.

When You Knew

Sarah: "I had just landed in the Atlanta airport, got off my flight and I was heading to get my luggage and go home. Me and Kaleb had not talked for a few months. I was walking past a gate and saw my friend getting off the plane. They were heading to a mission trip and getting on a connecting flight. Kaleb was right behind her getting off the plane. My stomach dropped. I realized my heart physically was hurting him without him in my life. I knew I was completely in love with him no doubt. I believe that soulmates will always end up together. No matter how much love got lost. no matter how much distance there was. You lose each other to find each other again, and stay forever." Kaleb: "I was in the marines and I took Sarah out to our families farm house. We were on a dead end road, Sarah brought blankets and we put them in the bed of the truck. I thought 'man this girl is making an effort.' So we were laying down, and we were just talking about whatever and I kinda thought to myself again 'I'll be alright with having this for the rest of my life,' I took a moment to listen to her, look around the beautiful view and feel her presence. That's when I knew. I went back to base and just told the guys that I was gonna marry this girl.

The Proposal

July 24th, 2020

We went to Jekyll Island for the weekend where we had our first vacation. It was Friday night and Kaleb wanted to try this restaurant in downtown Brunswick that his friend of a friend owns. We sat at a table, got our drinks and Kaleb starts having terrible anxiety- at least I thought so. He told me he didn't want to order food. I was SO hungry and very confused. We sat for a few minutes, and he says, 'Let's go outside and get some fresh air." I said, "Kaleb we can't just walk outside when we have a table and drinks?" He kept saying it was okay and acting so weird. I thought they were going to come chasing after us. We got to a pretty place with benches and a water fountain. He started pulling something out his pocket. I FREAKED out. I said, "Kaleb!! no!! Not right here or now!! You have anxiety." He laughed and said, "why not??" I explained because he felt sick and had anxiety. He got down on one knee and asked me. After I said yes and kissed him. I heard people clapping and screaming. He had a whole plan. The sweet owner was filming and taking photos. We spent the whole weekend in awe of the whole moment.
