Somehow this is the edited version of "Our Love Story"

Meat Sacks of Potatoes

Sometimes work conferences are a forgettable slog. But sometimes you travel to San Antonio for your first day of work as a teacher, sit down next to hot guy and he slips you a note asking if you watch "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". You write back, "yes" wondering if you need to move seats. He nods towards a future coworker at the front of the room and whispers "She reminds me of Danny Devito." These are the origins of the life of James Moy Maneikis, whose father, Greg always prided himself on his ability to slip a "well-timed note" across a classroom desk, and whose mother, Danielle always loved an inappropriately-timed joke. This love is by no means storybook, but read further if you want a glimpse into the weird world of two undiagnosed ADD adults who really are just doing their best. Danielle and Greg officially started dating almost two years after the "Frank Reynolds Incident" when Greg, fighting through some food poisoning, invited Danielle to go see "The Joker" starring Joaquin Phoenix because you know, nothing says romance quite like stomach issues and grotesque depictions of mental illness. In that intermittent time, Greg and Danielle worked together in the same English Department where they would spend countless Sunday afternoons lesson planning for the upcoming weeks at "Batch" here in Austin, Texas. Hopped up on caffeine, the two would banter about life, make fun of other people at the restaurant, and more importantly make fun of each other. From this foundation came the heart of Danielle and Greg's relationship. Through countless hardships including: the 2020 pandemic, cross-country road trips involving breakdowns and break-ins, health problems, devastating board game arguments, and perhaps most terrifying of all, the adoption of Billie; Danielle and Greg relied on witty banter, inappropriate jokes, and of course caffeine, to continue bringing them together. Finally, in July of 2023, Greg took Danielle back to Batch, the place where their relationship first began to grow. After a series of false starts, heavy sighs, and Danielle starting weird existential conversations to fill the silence (did you know we are all just meat sacks that are vessels for consciousness?), Greg finally proposed. Although neither of them quite remember what was said through the haze of tears and head nods, it was the perfect encapsulation of their love. And now here we are, 3 years later. Despite the gap in wedding planning proficiency (see the undiagnosed ADD mentioned above), Greg and Danielle's love has only continued to grow and, famously, multiply. Now we are here, finally with a wedding date; and with James Moy Maneikis excited to show off his dancing skills, and of course celebrate his parents' wedding. Thank you for being a part of our lives. We hope to get a chance to talk with all of you at the wedding. And when we do, let's skip the small talk. Let's get weird.
