Haley: We met back in 2009 through my cousin Tylar (now the Best Man) which is when my crush on Chris first started. We didn’t talk again until my junior year in High School (his senior year) when he gave me a ride to school while I was staying at my cousins’ house (his neighbors). I remember coming home that day to tell Kylee (My cousin and Bridesmaid) that I was in love with Chris (exaggerating obviously, but very infatuated nonetheless). The day before his high school graduation I finally got up the courage to tell him about my crush on him to which he responded he had similar feelings and that was the beginning of our relationship.
Haley: We have been dating since the summer of 2012. After I told Chris about my crush we went on a few group dates with our mutual friends, until we started to hang out just the two of us. We then spent almost every day together that summer. October 27th, 2012 he asked me to be his girlfriend and Christmas of 2012 we said "I love you." We then made it through 3 years of long distance while at different colleges taking turns every other weekend to travel to one another. After Chris graduated early, he moved in with me while he waited for me to finish my last year at UCSB and proposed during my spring break! He is not only the love of my life but my best friend and the most supportive fiancé I could ever ask for. I cannot wait to marry the man of my dreams on our 6 year anniversary! I am so excited that all the people we love most will be there to witness and take part in this amazing and perfect day!
Chris: During Spring Break of 2017, Haley, my family, and I took a trip to Madeira, Portugal and Madrid, Spain. I thought this would be the perfect place to surprise Haley and ask her to marry me. Let's be honest, I also couldn't wait any longer to be engaged. Once at our hotel, I found the perfect spot to propose that overlooked the ocean and had a beautiful view of the Madeira coast. On our third night, after an awesome hike, I (with the help of my family) was able to arrange the proposal with candles and flower pedals leading through the garden, up to the hotel's famous private gazebo that I reserved. I had candles placed in a giant heart shape with a bouquet of roses waiting for her. I walked Haley to the top and asked her to turn towards the ocean. When I asked her to turn around again, I was on my knee telling her how much I love her and asking her to be my wife. She is by far the best thing to ever happen to me and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her.
