John was an avid user of Instagram and one day, his Instagram got hacked. He worked with Instagram Support to try to get it back and much to his dismay, they told him it was gone forever and he'd have to make a new one. He was bummed, but went for it and begun making a new profile, re-following all of the friends he used to have and searching under the recommended friends section. Under there, he stumbled upon me, someone he said looked kind of familiar and couldn't believe how beautiful I was ;) He decided to give me a follow. I followed him back because I also thought he looked familiar and figured we crossed paths at one point or another. On January 4th, 2020, John slid into my DMs and "heart-eyed" a photo of me in a cheetah dress- I was headed to a surprise party. I replied with a smiley face, apprehensive of John's intentions because I didn't know him. He replied and said "You look so pretty and that dress looks awesome!" From there, we started messaging a bit back and forth, although I wasn't making things easy on John and was being a bit hesitant due to my lack of luck with dating. However, he saw through that and continued to pursue me because all of our values aligned and he just enjoyed talking to me. Slowly but surely, I felt John's sincereness and kind nature through our messages and he asked me out for a date on January 24th, 2020. I let John pick me up and we went out for sushi at Sakura Organic in Wakefield and we went back to his house afterwards to watch a movie. Little did I know, his family would be gathered in the kitchen, at the ready to meet me. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. Although it took me a little more time than John to fall, when I fell, I fell deep in love with him. He has a beautiful soul and has always made me feel so cared for, even in the early stages of our relationship. We made our relationship official on February 14th, 2020 (Valentine's Day), when John's asked me to be his girlfriend in a beautiful hand written card that he gave me prior to taking me out to a fancy Italian meal in the North End.
When 2024 ushered in, I had a feeling he would pop the question coming up so I became a sleuth, eager and excited for him to ask. After 4 years of dating, John proposed on April 13th, 2024. The day was perfect and even better than I could have imagined. All week John had been telling me that we were going to walk with some friends at Endicott Park and continued to share details, so I didn't think much of it. He picked me up and we went to the park, walking up to the entrance. We then approached a tree and John said "What's that?" and it was a tree with a wooden sign underneath it that said "Caroline, will you marry me?" with a plaque pouring his heart out to me with the most beautiful words I've ever read and rose petals scattered. At the bottom of the plaque, it was him asking me to marry him and he then got down on one knee and asked me out loud. I cried and couldn't get "YES!" out quick enough. What's so near and dear to my heart is that John proposed with my beautiful late nana's ring that my grandpa had given her decades ago. I've been told hundreds of times that I'm her twin by resemblance so it's so incredibly special and John and I feel so blessed. John and I are each other's best friends and we truly couldn't imagine growing old with anyone else. We can't wait to get married!
